On July 20, 2013, the renowned Hawaiian musical group, Hapa, performed at the Orpheum Theater in Flagstaff, Arizona. An hour before the concert, Kumu Hula (master hula teacher) Kehau Chrisman, Barry Flanagan and Ron Kauala'au sat down back stage and talked together for twenty minutes.
Rolling Stone Magazine names Hapa the "Titans of the new Hawaiian genre." The New York Times wrote that Hapa is "the most successful group from Hawaii in recent history." Billboard Magazine calls them "Hawaii's Hottest Group." Their ground breaking album, Hapa, was released twenty years ago and remains the best selling Hawaiian album of all time.
